When a few college students came to me and said, "we ain't got nothin' for us" I realized a couple things. One, these college students slept through high school English class. Two, these students want to stay connected to Christ after youth group. As a student pastor, nothing bothers me more than when graduating seniors fall out of the church. There is a myriad of reasons for this. Irrelevant churches. Churches that expect 18 year olds to fit in with "the adults." Youth groups that teach students games but not God. Laziness. But the number reason I hate to hear is "we ain't got nothin' for us."
That's the thought of many college students who live in Gadsden County. That's not a reason anymore. Starting in October, college students have something in Gadsden County. 8-oclock-blu's (that's pronounced "blues"). Every other Thursday night (starting Oct. 2), college students are invited to a relaxed atmosphere where discussions about life, culture, God, and randomness will be had. No pressure. No strings attached. Come as you are and bring your friends. More info will be on facebook shortly, but for now, email 8oclockblus@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Why the name 8oclockblu's? It's simple. We're meeting at Blu's house at 8 o'clock. Email for directions.
