What Will Your Funeral Say About You...

I attended the memorial service for an incredible woman of God today. Mrs. Ernestine Davis met Jesus face to face earlier this week, and today we celebrated that with her family. It's always a uniquely different service when there is complete confidence in a someone's eternal destination. There is the time during the service for remembering someone's life, but the focal point is always Jesus. Even in death, Christ takes the center of attention. That's the type of service we had today for Mrs. Ernestine. It was clear that she understood the Gospel (Jesus Paid it All) and her security was found in His Amazing Grace. Sure these songs are sung often at funerals, but today they were not just songs, they were a testimony to a woman's life and worship of her Savior. Her funeral spoke loudly and clearly: her life was lived for Jesus.

What will your funeral say about you and your faith? Will it be a stretch to link your life to Christ? Will it be easy for a pastor to point to you as an example of genuine faith? What will your funeral say about you?

I told Terry as we were leaving the memorial that I wanted people to be able to say of me at my funeral what was said of Mrs. Ernestine. I feel as if I missed something having never met her.
