Here's my favorite quote from last night...
"You're never more like God then when you love your enemies."
Love is the very core of God's character, and thankfully, his love is not given just to those who love him back or who "deserve it" by what they do. In fact, all of Scripture points to the reality that God loves us before we ever loved him, before we ever attempted anything good or right. God is madly, passionately in love with his enemies. It was while we were still sinners, still enemies or God, that God demonstrated his love by sending Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8).
If God can love his enemies, than the call of Jesus to love our enemies, to do good to those who hurt us, to bless those who curse us is not that radical (Luke 6:27-36). It's not unrealistic. In fact, it's the very opposite. It's is our chance to be like God.
You are never more like God then when you love your enemies!
