Pursue the Relationship not the Purpose

I ran across this quote in my time with God this AM.

Pursue your relationship with God. He'll lead you to His purpose.

Too often I'm find myself wanting what God wants me to do rather than just wanting God. I'm interested in the plans and places He's going to take me rather than worrying about his companionship along the way. The journey with God becomes more about my purpose than my relationship with God. And while my head spins and I lay awake at night wondering if I'm at the right place, am I doing God's will, am I carrying out my purpose in life, I miss just being with God. If I'd just pursue the relationship, the purpose would come. God wants me to know His purpose and will for my life, but He wants me to know Him first.
