Follower?

Today when I logged onto blogspot, I noticed something new on my page. It said I had a "follower." Not knowing what in the heck that meant, I clicked the link and found that my bro-in-law Adam became a follower of my blog. He obviously has too much time on his hands. I had no clue someone actually followed me on this thing. Sure I figured people checked it out when they reached the end of the internet, but for someone to make a decision, to take the effort and unashamedly say that they follow my blog...seriously?

But as I sat back on ponder my new found follower, I actually felt a deep sense of conviction. I thought about Jesus. Do I make a concerted effort, a decisive action to let Jesus Christ know that I'm not just checking Him and His story out, but that I'm actually a genuine follower? Do I take the time to check-in and follow the story of Scripture on a regular basis? Do I unashamedly let the world know that I'm a follower of Christ? Sometimes I think the reality is that Jesus would be as suprised to find my name as a follower of His as I was to find that I had a follower on this blog.

Oh Christ, may I love you enough to follow you in whatever you say and wherever you lead.
