three thoughts for 2009...

1. This is the year for equipping. To all of those who are apart of the family at FBCQ (students & adults), this is the year where the expectations are being raised. My goal is to give you the tools, resources, and opportunities to make the Kingdom's work apart of your every day life.

2. This is the year for less is more. We're not filling up the calendar with random, time-filler events this year. Everything will be centered on encountering God, enhaning relationships, or embracing community. Our job is not to be a social hub or baby-sitting service. We will be intentional about worship, discipleship, and sharing Jesus with the community around us.

3. This is the year for personal growth in Christ. No more spoon-feeding service here! It's time for all of us, including myself, to be feeding ourselves on God's Word rather than being church drones who show up each week and wait for a pastor to stuff us with the Word. Our churches should be packed with people who are already full of God and His Word ready to explode rather than starving, malnourished souls begging for a crumb. Pick up the Word and let's ingest it this year.

Goodbye 2008. Thanks for the memories, the victories, and the lessons learned from defeat. Hello 2009. Ready for the ride. Love and safety to everyone tonight and for all of 2009.

Seminary classes are working. Great words.
