After surging through December with parties, service projects, shopping, and travelling, Christmas is over. I must say that this was a very unique Christmas for us this year, and one that will probably change Christmas for Sara Beth and I forever. Here's why....
1. We did all of of our shopping online. I may have gone to two stores in this month. It was liberating and amazing how unstressed this Christmas shopping season was.
2. All of the gifts we bought helped someone else around the world this Christmas. This year, Sara Beth and I bought gifts where at least 70% of the cost of the gift went to provide basic necessities to a child or family on some part of this globe. Our families received a gift, but so did people who really needed help.
-We bought t-shirts for our brothers, neices, and nephews that help teenagerin Los Angeles, transients in St. Augustine, children in Mexico, people who needed a well in Rwanda, and an Iraqi boy who needed a heart transplant.
-We bought purses that were handmade by former prostitutes in Calcutta. Our purchases help these ladies have an income without having to sell their bodies.
-We bought a portfolio for our dad that helps an organization build bridges and roadways in Africa.
-We bought a family chickens in honor of Sara Beth's dad.
This was probably the most rewarding Christmas giving we've ever done. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas. Thank God for Jesus.
