have you done something unnoticed today?...

This past Sunday I spoke to our church about the Practice of Secrecy. In a nutshell, the Practice of Secrecy is doing the right thing without looking for others to notice. It's doing the right thing and then keeping your mouth shut. If we were honest with ourselves, most of us would admit that many times we do the right thing or serve with an expectation to get noticed for our job well done. We are motivated not by a genuine desire to serve others or Christ, but by a deep-seeded desire to gain the attention and approval of those who might see us. This approval addiction robs us of the reward Christ promises us when we serve for His sake and His sake only.

So I ask you again: have you done something unnoticed today? The crazy thing is that though the action may go unnoticed by those around you, it never goes unnoticed by our God who is always paying attention. There's a reward waiting for those who serve this way.
