Get Smart...

I wrestle alot with direction and confidence in where my life is going. It seems every other week, I'm wondering about whether I'm in the right place or when and where the next move might come from. And I think alot of people find themselves facing the same questions. Here's a couple places we tend to go when we have questions...

-Fantasy Land: We dream about the "what if's" and the "if only's." This is a big trap. When you live in fantasy land you move nowhere. You will never do anything big without putting work in. I am convinced that there are some big dreams that have never been accomplished because the dreamer refused to be a worker. Do dream big dreams, but be willing to do the big work.

-"Successful" People We Don't Know: In an overly-connected world, we can find ourselves following anyone we want. Whatever our field of work may be, we tend to go find those that are doing well and try to pick up bits of advice and may even emulate their techniques. This can be a good thing, but all to often we find ourselves trying to be them in our context. The reality is that we have no idea the blood, sweat, and tears they put in to get where they are. We don't know their daily routines, their daily struggles, and the small things that they have done to get where they are now. We only see the "success." No one ever accomplishes anything great by being someone else.

Maybe here's where we should go...

Cry out for insight.
Ask for understanding.
Search for them like silver; seek them like hidden treasure.
Then you will know what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain the knowledge of God.
For the Lord grants wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:3-6

No one dreams bigger dreams for you than God. If that's the case, then why would we not go to him begging for direction?
