So I am at a pretty significant point in life....staring at 30. With just four more months left in my 20's, I find myself where many people have been before: questioning my life's significance thus far. Really, what have I accomplished so far? What am I moving towards? What would the world be missing if I were not here?
These are huge questions of priority and life direction. However, I think I fall into a common trap: looking in the past and the future for my significance rather than the present. We've all been around those people who live in what they accomplished years ago (think about your 'athletic' friend who plays softball every night of the week to live out his baseball dreams), and those people who say, "When I get this" or "In just a few years..." Remembering the past and planning for the future is not bad, but I can't do it over and if I'm consumed by tomorrow I'm inept today. That's why me and you must be driven by this...
Be careful how you live. Don't live like fools but instead be wise by making the most of every opportunity. (Ephesians 5:15-16)
Each moment is an opportunity. Thus, what are you and I going to do with the multiple moments that life presents today, right now? What will you do right now that will have significant impact on the Kingdom of God? The past is gone. The future is not promised. All you have is right now.
