I didn't get a chance to update yesterday, but I couldn't wait to update today. I'll try to keep this short.
Today we had the chance to go to a Muslim school on an isolated island in Phang Gna Bay. It started when we got to the dock and I had the chance to help a local Thai fisherman unload his catch. Shrimp, crabs, and a BLACK TIP SHARK!
The boat ride took us through absolute paradise!!!
When we hit the shores of the island we were greeted to a breath-taking view and a motor-scooter gang that drove us up to the school.
Then we hit the school for the day. We spent the next six hours telling Muslim children about
the one TRUE AND LIVING GOD and His Son Jesus Christ. It was incredible. At the end of the day, we found out two really awesome things.
1. This was the first time the children (5 years old-14 years old) had ever heard the name Jesus Christ. They were exposed to salvation for the first time in their entire lives. Some of the teachers had never heard either.
2. This was the first time the children had ever seen anyone from the United States or any other country...EVER!!! They were enthralled by us Americans, and the Gospel was shared for the first time!!! We're asking for "child-like" faith and savation to cover that little island.
There's a ton of pictures I would love to post, but we are fixing to start our nightly worship with the mission team. After the visit to the island we had a fantasically scary ride back through Phang Gna Bay. The boat was rockin' with thirty of us on there. But it was so awesome. We grabbed a great seafood dinner and now are winding down for the night.
A few things before I go...
1. God gave us our first sunny day today. We had to have it to get to the island. Perfect timing.
2. Today I saw the most beautiful things my eyes have seen in 28 years. God is an amazing Creator.
3. The Gospel is so simple. I know that some of these kids are trusting Christ this week.
4. The Thai people are so fun, laidback, and welcoming.
5. The food is spicy but fantastic.
6. Watching kids that have never heard the name Jesus sing "Jesus Loves Me" breaks me everytime. I have not made it through the song yet.
Keith (the missionary to Thailand) just yelled at me and said, "GET OFF THE INTERNET." Gotta go. Love to all our family, friends, and our church family. We miss you and will see you in a week or so.
